Dr. McGonigal grew up in Western Pennsylvania and earned his undergraduate and medical degree from the University of Virginia. He completed his residency at Wake Forest University and is board certified by The American Academy of Family Medicine & The American Board of Geriatrics. From 2004 to 2009 and 2021 to 2024 he was awarded the Top Doc award by Pittsburgh Magazine.
